As a writer my Inspiration comes from EVERYTHING. People. Places. Movies. Conversations. But more often for me it comes through ‘music and lyrics’ … great movie by the way. It’s always been what sparks the live-wire of ideas in my mind to life. Like those totally melancholy heartfelt songs with the voice to project feelings deep within. Insert Morten Harket of A-ha for example. Not only is he easy on the eyes, but the emotion in his voice has a muse-like quality that gets my author vibe going (just so you know: another muse reference for me comes from the soundtrack for Xanadu, ‘have to believe in Magic’). Back to my favorite Norwegian. 🙂 I’ve been listening to a lot of A-ha lately too since I’ve shared their music with one of my daughters, she’s kind of obsessed with them at the moment, well Morten ha ha. Their music ignites scenes of new character ideas, plots and locations. Their lyrics, on the other hand, spark ideas of conflicts between characters in my mind. Imagine a movie scene downloaded to your brain instantly, most excellent right?! Maybe it happens like that because I totally loved my Mtv! What totally tubular ultra fine foxy boy crazy girl didn’t? And so of course as a pre-teen their music and videos inspired me to write lyrics. I regretfully threw them out but my love for fab jukebox heroes continues to inspire my characters and the sequels to Another Place in Time. Many thanks for reading and be sure to watch for more updates on what inspires me. If you pay close attention to my books and you share my love for the 80’s you might just pick up on more rad bands that are Ferris approved as ‘so choice’.
“Where did you come up with that?”
